LeaseWeb expands global IaaS footprint with new cloud platform in Asia

Platform brings private and public cloud to the region.

LeaseWeb, one of the world’s largest hosting brands, today launches LeaseWeb Cloud in Asia. The new cloud platform, operated by LeaseWeb Asia Pacific and based in their Singapore data center, brings the full range of LeaseWeb’s public and private cloud products to the region. The platform was previously launched in Germany, the USA and the Netherlands.

The LeaseWeb Cloud portfolio consists of public cloud as well as Apache CloudStack and VMware-based private cloud solutions. All services have an extensive feature set, including: instant deployment, fully redundant architecture, full flash-based storage, flat flee pricing, intuitive customer portal, and extensive APIs. LeaseWeb Asia Pacific also provides dedicated hosting, CDN and hybrid solutions.

The new Cloud Platform uses the recently announced NetApp All-FAS Flash platform for storage, which allows for a maximum-size AFF cluster of about 4 million IOPS at 1ms latency (8K random, with inline efficiencies). Throughput-wise, 100GB/s is possible. This makes LeaseWeb Cloud ideal for a wide range of SaaS and PaaS providers, including software developers, application builders, experienced cloud users, gaming companies and hosting resellers. These services are managed through a customer portal and are connected to the global LeaseWeb Network, one of the world’s largest networks of its type.

“With the addition of LeaseWeb Cloud we now offer a full portfolio of LeaseWeb hosting solutions in Asia, all built on 18 years of experience and first-class infrastructure,” said Bas Winkel, Managing Director of LeaseWeb Asia Pacific. “This enables customers worldwide to turn to a single, trusted provider for their dedicated server, colocation, cloud and CDN needs, as well as any required hybrid scenario. LeaseWeb has put together an ambitious roadmap for the coming years for the further development of this platform and additional cloud products.”

Asia Pacific region

LeaseWeb has rapidly increased its operations in the Asia Pacific region since the opening of a data center in Singapore mid-2014. Last December, LeaseWeb Asia Pacific opened a data center in Hong Kong. In April, the hosting provider achieved ISO 27001:2013, PCI DSS certifications and SOC 1 Type II assurance reports. LeaseWeb is currently exploring other markets in the region including Sydney and Tokyo.

“The demand for cloud services in Asia is growing rapidly, as businesses realize that cloud can increase their flexibility while reducing their costs,” said Winkel. “This makes it a favorable time to launch LeaseWeb Cloud in this region. It enables our customers to scale up their operations in a matter of minutes, while receiving enterprise-class performance, reliability and local support at low costs.”
